Ceramic Coating

Introduction

Adam's UV Ceramic Coating for Cars

Ceramic coating is one of the most expensive forms of coating and if you’re a fan of keeping your car shiny, you’ve probably heard of it. A professional ceramic coating can cost as much as 2,000 dollars, making it closely associated with high-end vehicles. But if you don’t have that kind of money to spend, you can do it yourself at a much, much smaller price.

The job of a ceramic coating is to act as a protective layer for your car’s paint. It can be compared to car wax and sealant, except that ceramic coating is developed to last much longer. You can see which car has a ceramic coating and which doesn’t, without even putting them next to each other. It’s a surprisingly big difference.

You shouldn’t use ceramic coating as a “fixing” coating, attempting to fix certain spots, because while it will seep into scratches and swirl marks that damaged your car’s paint, filling them up, it won’t visually remove them. You’ll end up with a visible, shining scratch instead. The ceramic coating is completely transparent and very microscopic.

If you choose to apply the ceramic coat yourself, you can rest assured that a ceramic coating kit is worth the investment. A good kit is generally enough to coat two cars, while giving your paint a 2 to 5-year durability, depending on what kind of driver you are. The cost of the kit will pay itself in savings in less than a few months.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a professional or just trying ceramic coating your car, by yourself, for the first time, a good ceramic coating kit is needed by both parties. In this article, we’ll talk about Adam’s Tracer Ceramic Coating Kit.

If I layer this product, will it last longer?

Yes, it will last a little bit longer, but that doesn’t mean if you’re applying it 10 times, it will last 10 times longer. If you’ll apply this product more than 3 times, you’ll make the car look tacky while still having the same hydrophobic effects.

What is Ceramic Glow Technology?

It’s a crystalline form of an optical brightener that absorbs energy and emits light as it reflexes back down to a lower energy state. The Ceramic Glow Technology is Adams’s Polishes Patent-Pending formula.

Will the UV Coating indicate durability?

No, it will not. With the UV coating, you will be able to see the coating and if there are any missed spots while applying. With time, if there’s a lack of glow, it doesn’t mean there’s a lack of coating.

Can I use this Adam’s UV Ceramic Coating Kit on the whole car?

Yes, you can. Adam’s UV Ceramic Coating Kit provides protection to a wide range of areas in your car. Painted surfaces, trim, bed rail covers, plastic engine bay components, headlights, bed liners, tonneau covers, canvas tops, floor mats, are all safe for this product.

Will the coating glow after being “charged” with the UV light?

No, it will not, the coating is fluorescent, not phosphorescent. It will glow only under the 395 NM UV light. “Glow in the dark” items have a yellow/green hue from phosphorescent dyes, and because of those, the items light up under any light and will diminish in just a few minutes.

What is the difference between fluorescence and phosphorescence?

The amount of time it takes for the electrons to relax and stop releasing energy in the form of photons of light. Fluorescent items glow as long as the UV light is shining on them. Phosphorescent items can be “charged up” by normal light and glow for a bit longer.

Why does the glow intensify on some substrates, and others not?

The difference is in the coating’s porosity and ability to penetrate and bond with different surfaces. This will cause a thinner or thicker film. The thicker the film, the more the glow intensifies.

Will my car glow in the sunlight?

No, it will not. The Coating is completely invisible under standard light. Your car will not glow under a flashlight, streetlight, sunlight or any usual light. The coating will only glow a blueish color under the 395 NM UV light.

What can I do if I miss a spot or end up with a high-spot?

If you catch your missed spot in under 15-20 minutes, reapply to that area and wipe off after 1-2 minutes. You can reactivate the product to become easier to remove. But if you don’t catch it in time, you can use the Brilliant Glaze and a microfiber applicator, or a polishing machine with Polish Correcting to fully remove the imperfection.

In anything you do, preparation is key. Before the ceramic coating process, you need to do a thorough wipe with an IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) based solution to remove any existing residues and contaminants from the surface. If this step isn’t done properly, all the hard work you’ve done can go to waste.

Step One:

For Paint Coating:

Unpack the kit and fold the supplied Surface Prep towel in fourths. Prepare the paint with the supplied 4oz bottle of Adam’s Surface Prep and the folded towel, to clean the surface of an already existing protection or residual films. Use the direct spray on each surface and once into the towel for proper cleaning.

For Plastic and Trim Coating:

Unpack the kit and fold the supplied Edgeless Utility Towel in fourths. Prepare your trim with the supplied 4oz bottle of Adam’s Surface Prep and the folded Edgeless Utility towel, to clean and degrease the surface of any left protection of residual films.

Use the direct spray on each surface and once into the towel for proper cleaning. For a heavily contaminated trim and plastic, use a deep cleanse with Tire & Rubber Cleaner and an Edgeless Utility towel.

Step Two:

For Paint Coating:

Put the supplied gloves on, open the UV Ceramic Paint Coating bottle and begin to dispense the coating onto the supplied Micro Silk applicator and start the coating process. Apply the product onto the surface and ensure full coverage over the desired area.

During the process, cross-hatching motions are recommended and overlapping your previous pass by 50%. Use Adam’s UV Handheld light for inspections between passes.

For Plastic and Trim Coating:

With the gloves on, open the UV Ceramic Paint Coating and start dispensing the coating onto the supplied Micro Silk applicator and begin the coating process. Apply the product onto the surface and ensure full coverage over the desired area.

Step Three:

For Paint Coating:

For the removal process you will need one of the supplied Removal Towels folded in four to wipe the coating. Then, apply minimal pressure to the towel. After it is fully removed, allow the coating 24 hours to fully cure in an enclosed space, away from elements and the weather.

After the curing process is finished, your car is ready to face the open road.

For Plastic and Trim Coating:

The curing time for plastic and trim coating is 1-2 hours in an enclosed space. Also, keep it away from elements and the weather. If the coating won’t be allowed the optimal time to fully cure, it will be forced to cure with whatever elements touch it during the process.

Step Four: (Optional)

For Paint Coating:

Spray Adam’s Ceramic Boost on the coating, to top the coating with an extra layer of silica enhancement, and give it an extra shiny look.
